Volunteer Programs - Corrections

The Division of Corrections offers volunteers a number of opportunities to work with the residents at City Justice Center and Medium Security Institution.

Volunteers provide an important service and fill a tremendous void for incarcerated inmates.  Volunteers often provide a level of commitment and dedication that is insurmountable.  Volunteers are recruited from community organizations, schools, churches and civic groups throughout the metropolitan area.

All individuals interested in becoming a Division of Corrections Volunteer must:
  • be at least 21 years of age
  • be of good moral character
  • be able to perform the duties and responsibilities of a volunteer
Applicants will not be denied access to the volunteer program based on sex, race, national origin, physical disability or political belief.  All applicants must attend and successfully complete the entire training and orientation sessions prior to assignment.
