Salary

  • Minimum: $42,328.00
  • Maximum: $60,866.00

Applicants who meet the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $42,328 annually.  Applicants who have successfully completed a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and obtained journeyman status will start at $47,684 annually. Proof of completion of a registered Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program and Journeyman status must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for installing and maintaining plumbing systems and fixtures in municipal buildings, grounds and facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses:  Must possess and maintain a Journeyman Plumber or Master Plumber License in the City of St. Louis while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must be licensed as a Journeyman Plumber or Master Plumber in the City of St. Louis at the time of filing application and be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview.  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview.  Please note type of licenses, numbers, classes and expiration dates on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license must present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

When completing the Employment Application, please be as thorough as possible when describing your Plumbing experience, training and education.  Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment.  Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.  Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. 

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of the medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
